It took two and a half hours to sign all the documents, but Island Health and Tandem Health Partners reached financial close on the North Island Hospitals Project in late June. The result is a fixed-price contract agreement to design, build, partially finance and maintain the new hospitals in the Comox Valley and Campbell River.
The signing cleared the way for construction to begin on the site of the new $331.7 million, 153-bed Comox Valley hospital near the corner of Lerwick and Ryan roads in Courtenay, as well as construction of the new $274.5 million, 95-bed Campbell River hospital on the existing hospital site.
