Island Health is pleased to offer free WiFi service to patients and visitors at both the Campbell River and Comox Valley campuses of the North Island Hospital.
Who can connect to the Guest WiFi Service?
The new service will help visitors and patients get access to email, news, online educational materials, and digital tools such as apps.
Island Health staff who want to connect their personal mobile devices to WiFi service can use a Staff WiFi Service. By keeping the guest WiFi for patients and visitors, this helps keep the access and connection speeds optimal for the public and staff, who may want to use WiFi service at these locations.
“Family friendly” content filters may restrict some content, and limit services that consume high bandwidth. This helps ensure limited bandwidth is equally shared among all users and a better experience for all.
While connected on WiFi, examples of allowable activities include:
• Browsing the internet
• Checking e-mail
• Researching educational materials
Getting access to content that consumes a high amount of bandwidth services may be less available (e.g. streaming media, video chat, etc.)
Terms and Conditions
• The Island Health Guest WiFi Service is not encrypted.
• Patients and visitors use the service at their own risk and should take precautions to protect their data.
