COURTENAY – Tree clearing on the site of the new $334 million, 153-bed Comox Valley Hospital will start on Monday March 4.
Tree clearing will continue through to Friday March 8 at the site near Lerwick and Ryan roads. Efforts will be made to retain as many trees as possible, but most of the trees on the 11-acre wooded portion of the site will have to be removed for safety reasons, said Tom Sparrow, Chief Project Officer.

CAMPBELL RIVER – Close to 80 per cent of physicians in Campbell River have voted in support of the new Campbell River Hospital’s location, size, 95-bed count and $266 million cost.
Dr. Jeff Beselt, Chief of Staff at Campbell River Hospital, reported the outcome of the physicians’ vote to more than 125 community members who attended a North Island Hospitals Project public information meeting held at the Maritime Heritage Centre on February 21st.
