North Island Hospitals Project wins innovation award


The North Island Hospitals Project has won another award for innovation excellence. The project’s design builder, Graham, won Gold in the ‘Builder/General Contractor Commercial over $500 million’ category at the Constructech Vision awards in Chicago August 18, 2016.

The award is from Chicago-based Constructech Magazine, which celebrates the places “where construction and technology converge.” The Constructech Vision Awards honour construction companies that have applied technology in innovative ways to remain competitive.

Health Minister tours hospital construction sites


Health Minister Terry Lake got a first-hand look last month at progress on construction of the new hospitals in Campbell River and Comox Valley.

Graham – 90 Years Strong

Carpentry students from North Island College tour Comox Valley Hospital site


North Island Hospitals Project sites in Campbell River and the Comox Valley are providing “invaluable” educational and employment opportunities to people looking to get into the construction industry. Second green bond issued for BC health care construction project


Almost two years after Island Health’s North Island Hospitals Project (NIHP) became the first public-private partnership project in North America and the first public infrastructure project in Canada to be partially funded through a green bond issue, a second green bond has been issued to finance the new Penticton Regional Hospital patient care tower and parkade.

New underground storm water management system installed at Comox Valley Hospital site


The second phase of a colourful new storm water management system was installed on the new Comox Valley Hospital construction site in May.
A number of construction trailers were relocated away from the area between the new parkade and Lerwick Road to make way for rows of bright orange StormTech Stormwater shells forming a huge underground storm water retention chamber to the northeast of the new hospital.
